Blaze News’ on-the-ground footage from Minneapolis shows what every American who loves law and order should find shocking: anti-ICE crowds chanting, hurling insults, and behaving like a mob outside federal facilities. The videos capture profanity-laced tirades and chaotic scenes that make it plain this is less about peaceful protest and more about intimidation of federal officers doing their jobs.
This ugly crescendo didn’t arise in a vacuum — it follows the federal Operation Metro Surge, a major ICE enforcement campaign that began in late 2025 and was intended to remove dangerous criminal aliens and restore public safety. Tensions exploded after the January 7, 2026, shooting of Renée Good during an ICE operation in Minneapolis, an incident that has inflamed passions and created an opportunistic narrative for radical activists.
Rather than calming things, the left doubled down: organized “no work, no school, no shopping” actions and a statewide day of protest on January 23, 2026, culminating in hundreds of clergy deliberately getting arrested at Minneapolis–Saint Paul Airport. These theatrics are presented as moral superiority, but the reality is a politically motivated campaign to block lawful enforcement and punish cities that cooperate with federal law.
What the mainstream framers call righteous resistance often crosses into dangerous lawlessness — reports and videos show protesters throwing objects, setting off fireworks, and federal agents deploying flash-bang devices to protect personnel and bystanders. When citizens substitute raw emotion and theatrics for facts, the result is chaos that threatens both officers and the ordinary people who just want to go about their lives.
Worse still, some activists have stormed churches and harassed faith leaders, prompting a Department of Justice review — a sobering reminder that no institution is immune when mobs decide they’re above the law. If civil disobedience becomes an excuse for disrupting worship and terrorizing neighborhoods, elected leaders must act to reassert authority and protect the rule of law.
Minnesota’s political establishment has oscillated between anger and appeasement, with Democratic officials publicly denouncing federal enforcement even as communities face the fallout of lawlessness. Governors and mayors who equivocate or encourage spectacle instead of insisting on order bear responsibility for the breakdown in civic norms we’re seeing on city streets.
Patriotic Americans should be clear-eyed: defending lawful immigration policy and the men and women who enforce it is not hatred, it is common sense. We must demand accountability from federal agents where misconduct occurs, but we must also reject the mob’s attempt to shut down enforcement and hand victory to criminals and the radical left. Stand for justice, stand for order, and stand with those who keep our communities safe.
