Chicago Mayor Johnson Pushes for More Taxes Amid Massive Deficit

Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson is at it again, demanding more of your hard-earned money to fix his city’s massive spending problem. The liberal mayor just announced Chicago faces a whopping $1.15 billion budget deficit for 2026. That’s on top of another $146 million gap they need to fill for the rest of this year.

Johnson already broke his campaign promise about property taxes when he tried to slam Chicago families with a $300 million tax hike for 2025. Thankfully, the city council had enough sense to block that robbery attempt. But now he’s back with his hand out, looking for new ways to pick your pockets.

The mayor’s brilliant solution is to go after the “ultra rich” to close the budget gap. This is the same tired playbook every failed liberal politician uses when they spend taxpayer money like drunken sailors. Instead of cutting wasteful spending, they always want to punish successful Americans who create jobs and drive the economy.

Chicago burned through $1.3 billion in federal COVID relief money between 2022 and 2024 without fixing any of their core problems. They had a golden opportunity to get their financial house in order, but they blew it on more government waste. Now working families are stuck holding the bag while city bureaucrats keep their cushy jobs.

The numbers tell the whole story about liberal mismanagement. While regular Americans are struggling with only 3.5% wage growth and 4.1% cost-of-living increases, Johnson wants to squeeze them even harder. Meanwhile, city pension costs and bloated government payrolls keep growing like cancer.

This is what happens when you put progressive politicians in charge of your money. They promise the moon during election season, then immediately break those promises when they need cash for their pet projects. Johnson’s word is worth about as much as a Chicago Cubs championship ring from 2023.

The real victims here are the hardworking people of Chicago who are already overtaxed and underserved. They deserve leaders who will cut spending, not politicians who treat them like human ATM machines. Every tax increase makes it harder for families to put food on the table and gas in their cars.

American taxpayers are sick and tired of bailing out corrupt cities that refuse to live within their means. Chicago needs to learn what every family in America knows: you can’t spend money you don’t have forever. It’s time for Johnson to start cutting the fat instead of reaching deeper into our wallets.
