Former Republican New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, despite being met with a cacophony of boos during the GOP 2024 presidential debate, attempted to spin the unfavorable reception in a positive light. However, even the left-leaning CNN didn’t buy his flimsy excuse.
In an interview on “CNN This Morning,” Christie dismissively shrugged off the resounding boos from the crowd, choosing instead to pat himself on the back for attacking former President Trump early on during the event. It seems Christie believes that criticizing the leader of the Republican Party is grounds for celebration. Talk about missing the mark!

When questioned about the adverse reaction to his Trump criticism, Christie shrugged it off with a lackluster response. He claimed that not every Republican primary voter was present in the arena, as if that somehow justifies the boos. Sorry, Governor, but that excuse doesn’t hold water. Maybe it’s time for some introspection on why your own party wasn’t receptive to your anti-Trump rhetoric.
Christie’s arrogance continued as he boasted about his “best” moment of the night: choosing not to raise his hand when asked if he would support Trump, even if he were convicted in a court of law. Talk about virtue signaling at its finest. Christie seemed positively proud of his decision, as if it elevated him above his fellow candidates. Forgive us if we don’t join in your self-congratulatory parade, Governor.
Not content with merely critiquing Trump, Christie went on to lambast his opponents for failing to attack the former president during the debate. Apparently, according to Christie, Trump should be politically persecuted by the Left for no reason at all. It’s astonishing to witness a fellow Republican advocate for baseless persecution, all for the sake of appeasing the liberal mob. Talk about pandering!
Unsurprisingly, Trump, never one to shy away from a counterpunch, had a few choice words for Christie in an interview with Tucker Carlson. The former president labeled Christie as someone who “runs solely on the basis of ‘Let’s get Trump'” and likened him to a “savage maniac” and “lunatic.” And while we typically don’t condone name-calling, it’s hard not to see some truth in Trump’s assessment.
It’s clear that Christie’s anti-Trump antics may have won him some fans among CNN’s audience, but they certainly didn’t resonate with Republican primary voters. Perhaps it’s time for Christie to reassess his strategy and realize that attacking the leader of his own party won’t endear him to the conservative base. But then again, maybe he’s content with being a pawn of the Left.
