CNN Analysis Shows Americans Unmoved by January 6 Narrative

Harry Enten, CNN’s data crunching guru, recently took a deep dive into one of the Left’s favorite topics: the January 6 riot. As if anyone needed confirmation, the polling results showed what many already suspected: the Democrats have considerably overplayed their hand. Surprising no one, a significant number of Americans don’t hold President Trump accountable for the events of that day, which the liberal media has magnified into a national crisis that it simply wasn’t.

The reality is that the chaos of January 6 can’t touch the magnitude of historical events like 9/11, Pearl Harbor, or even the Civil War. It was just a little riot, and while the Democrats have attempted to turn it into a massive political weapon, it’s clear that most Americans moved on days after the incident. Many even opted to hit the voting booths a little later to express their disapproval of the Democrats’ antics, culminating in Trump’s return to office. If that’s not a clear message of rejection, what is? It would seem only five percent of Americans still consider the Capitol riot their most significant memory of Trump’s first term, leaving one to wonder about the mental state of those who cling to this narrative.

According to recent numbers, the January 6 event has failed to leave a lasting impression on most voters. Only five percent of Americans identified it as their primary memory of the Trump administration. In stark contrast, the share of the population that believes Trump bears significant responsibility for the attack continues to fall, currently sitting below 40 percent. In 2021, that figure was almost half, but it seems reality has set in for most. Americans are busy with their lives, tackling bills and avoiding crime—things that truly matter—while the Left continues to whine about an event that happened years ago.

Despite the Democrats’ fervent wish for the January 6 narrative to define Trump’s legacy, it appears voters are simply not interested. It’s becoming increasingly clear that this is a losing issue for the Left. Most Americans have a laser focus on real problems that affect their day-to-day lives. The attention paid to January 6 is dwindling faster than a liberal journalist at a gun range, as people are fed up with the constant whining from the elite.

Essentially, January 6 is nothing but a nagging sore spot for the Left, a throwback they refuse to let go of while the rest of America moves forward. They should take a lesson from the electorate that their drama has left the building. The jig is up—the message has been received loud and clear.
