The ongoing spectacle of CNN and MSNBC unabashedly aligning themselves with the Democratic Party has long ceased to be a point of contention. As the 2024 election cycle wound down to the shock of many, including the networks themselves, these outlets found themselves floundering in the aftermath of Donald Trump’s unexpected victory. Instead of recalibrating their messaging to align with the electorate’s demands, they have chosen to dive headfirst into their well-worn narratives, much to the chagrin of viewers who clearly prefer policies that Trump advocates.
In the wake of the election and Trump’s subsequent inauguration, CNN and MSNBC have transformed their platforms into ongoing forums for grievance and lamentation. The post-election era has devolved into a relentless echo chamber, where their messaging blatantly contradicts public sentiment towards Trump’s policies. Despite a steady decline in viewership since November 2024, these networks continue to double down on a script that has lost all credibility. It has become increasingly apparent that, rather than adapting to a shifting political landscape, these news sources are compounding their previous failures with more of the same.

The absurdity of their coverage cannot be overstated. Recently, during just the first couple of days of a week, CNN and MSNBC managed to invoke the phrase “Constitutional crisis” over 125 times, concerning Trump’s presidency. This hyperbolic language has become a hallmark of their reporting, exposing how these networks are simply parroting Democratic talking points with little regard for facts or objective reporting. Such rampant repetition serves as evidence of their collusion in pushing a narrative that appears alarmist to anyone watching with a critical eye.
The attempts by Democratic leaders, particularly Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, to pin inflation on Trump are the epitome of political absurdity. For years, the Democrats downplayed inflation’s effects while now attempting to falsely implicate Trump who has been in office for less than a month. This pivot is met with the eager complicity of both CNN and MSNBC as they fixate on sensational issues like the rising price of eggs, neglecting to mention the real causes behind the spike—namely, a global avian flu epidemic that has decimated poultry stocks. Instead of presenting a nuanced discussion, the networks have opted for a simplified narrative that fits their agenda, complete with a convenient villain.
It’s nothing short of remarkable to see these two media giants proceed with such a strategy despite witnessing a significant decline in their audience numbers. Since November 2024, CNN and MSNBC have suffered a steep fall in viewership while Fox News has seen an uptick, consistently capturing a staggering portion of the cable audience. With Fox frequently boasting ratings that dwarf both CNN and MSNBC combined, it’s clear that viewers are tuning out the biased rhetoric aimed at upholding a deteriorating political narrative.
This myopic pursuit of a partisan agenda further reflects the Democrats’ troubling polling numbers. As the party struggles with historical lows in public support, Trump enjoys unprecedented approval ratings and favorable views concerning the country’s direction. Nevertheless, the refusal of CNN and MSNBC to adjust their coverage or heed the public’s appetite for impartial reporting signals an inevitable downfall. The networks seem intent on persistently distorting the news rather than adapting to the reality their ratings are painting. In light of this, one can only watch as these outlets head towards their own self-inflicted demise, all while ignoring the very voices they claim to represent.
