Redstate.com says that CNN is coming apart because CEO Chris Licht is in charge. Licht has been taking big steps to get CNN back to its roots as a trustworthy news network. For example, he has fired important people like Brian Stelter, John Harwood, and Don Lemon. But Licht's attempts to make the network more objective aren't going over well with the staff, and the left media is also fighting any move toward objectivity. Even Licht's boss, David Zaslav, the head of Warner Bros. Discovery, which runs CNN, has lost faith in him because of the story in The Atlantic about the problems he raised.

Licht's sad apology to CNN employees and his desperate attempts to keep his job have not helped the situation. In the apology, Licht said that his part has overshadowed the network's amazing week of reporting and that he wouldn't be in the news if he wasn't taking the blame for the staff. He says he will fight like hell to get people to believe him again, but The Atlantic says he says CNN overhyped COVID to get more viewers.
Sources tell Stelter that employees are unhappy with Licht's leadership, and a story from The New York Times says that executives at Warner Bros. Discovery think that Jeff Zucker, who Licht replaced last year, may be fighting a proxy war against Licht. Zucker was known for moving CNN to the left, and many staff members and on-air stars still support him.
The editorial staff at Redstate thinks that Licht did the right thing when he tried to turn CNN back into a news company. The article says that the network can't be fixed unless all Zucker-bots and Democratic operatives are kicked off. Unfortunately for Licht and Zaslav, the network will continue to have problems and lose viewers until the staff changes what they believe in their core.
