CNN Mocks Tragic Sub Deaths, Ignores Risk-Takers’ Powerful Impact

It’s no secret that the left-wing media takes pleasure in mocking the rich and successful individuals, but some of the recent criticism over the implosion of the OceanGate Titan submersible has gone too far. The catastrophic incident has resulted in five tragic deaths, but instead of mourning the loss of life, CNN’s Christine Romans and her panelists couldn’t resist attacking the passengers’ wealth. They even went so far as to congratulate themselves for not being interested in viewing the wreckage of the Titanic. It almost seems that being affluent and adventurous is a major character flaw to them.

Romans made it a point to emphasize that the market for such adventures included ultra-high net worth individuals who were willing to take risks and follow their passions. It’s no secret that these people made their money by being risk-takers and rule breakers. In fact, one of the deceased passengers had three Guinness World Records before embarking on the submersible adventure. The market for such trips is small, but it’s filled with people who know that it’s a risk and do it anyway, precisely because there are not many others who can. These individuals are thrill-seekers by nature, and while they recognize the danger, they embrace it.

However, CNN’s Alfred Hagen, a real estate developer who had flown twice on the submersible to see what’s left of the Titanic, felt that the emphasis on the wealth of the passengers was uncalled for. In an interview with Anderson Cooper, he reiterated that risk-takers have always driven humanity forward and that risk-taking is what distinguishes humanity from other creatures. If we hadn’t taken risks, we would never have crossed the oceans, sailed, left the earth, explored space, or the ocean.

The circumstances surrounding the deaths of the five individuals aboard the Titan submersible are tragic. Still, rather than discrediting the deceased passengers’ wealth, what’s needed is compassion for their families and those affected by the tragedy. It’s not a time to judge or belittle, but to come together and mourn their loss.
