CNN Segment at DNC Slammed Biden’s Return as Career Eulogy Conservatives Say

In a delightful twist of irony, CNN aired a segment during the Democratic National Convention where Republican strategist Scott Jennings poured cold water on the Democrats’ grand narrative about President Joe Biden making a triumphant return. Instead of a celebratory hero’s welcome, Jennings painted a picture more fitting for a wake, suggesting that Biden was merely there to deliver his own career eulogy. Somewhere, in the depths of the liberal mind, maybe this is their version of a pep rally.

Jennings couldn’t help but remind viewers that Biden has indeed earned a reputation as an exceptional eulogist—much like a comedian who’s brilliant at roast battles. His point? Biden, instead of being hailed as a champion of the Democratic cause, was being paraded around like a ghost at his own funeral. That’s one way to keep spirits high, right? Nothing says “celebration” quite like a man obligated to recount his own political demise. From what Jennings pointed out, it sounds more like attendance at a wake than a jubilant party.

The seasoned political consultant went on to highlight the various reasons that strayed Biden off his supposed throne. It’s not just about his age, Jennings said. His unpopularity, the deportation debacle in Afghanistan, a border crisis that could challenge even the most seasoned border patrol agent, and, of course, skyrocketing inflation contributed to his fall from grace. Jennings insisted that Biden wasn’t merely stepping down; he was being yanked out of the race kicking and screaming. One can almost hear the “Bye-Bye Biden” theme playing softly in the background.

Meanwhile, the Democrats at the convention peddled the notion that Biden was leaving gracefully and altruistically, with the party’s best interest in mind. Jennings unwrapped that little fairy tale, calling it out for what it was—pure theater. Convincing the American public that the President is sacrificing himself for the good of the party wouldn’t earn the Oscar for Best Performance; it would get a nod for Best Comedy of Errors instead. Talk about a round of applause for delusion!

As Jennings wrapped up his remarks, it became apparent that, in the grand scheme of things, the Democrats were trying to craft a narrative that would fool no one outside of their echo chamber. While the party tries to convince everyone that this is all in good fun, observers are left wondering just how long this charade will last. One thing is certain: if Biden thought he could pull off a dramatic exit with an air of confidence, he might as well brace for one final embarrassing curtain call.
