Cory Booker is at it again with his over-the-top antics. The senator from New Jersey seems to think he’s putting on a one-man Broadway show with himself in the lead role. Booker stood up in front of the Senate and unleashed a tirade—targeting not just the GOP, but his fellow Democrats. Why? Because Trump, the so-called “orange man,” is living in his head, rent-free.
This isn’t the first time we’ve seen Booker attempt to grab the limelight with drama that rivals any midday soap opera. Remember his bizarre self-proclaimed “Spartacus” moment during the Kavanaugh hearings? It’s as if he’s forgotten he’s dealing with real-world issues, not high school theatrics. His recent meltdown over police-related bills is just another episode in his lengthy series of political theater.
As if his performance wasn’t embarrassing enough, he aimed his misguided outrage at police funding—a matter even several Democrats realize is vital. Booker would have you believe these bills somehow undermine democracy, but that’s just noise. The truth is, solutions for law enforcement must rise above partisan squabbles, a sentiment echoed by many, including some in his own party.

Yet, when others work with conservatives to keep Americans safe, Booker spirals into a fit. His concerns over supposed threats to free speech and constitutional breaches are mostly hot air. Meanwhile, the real work gets done by those who show up for the job. Does New Jersey really deserve a senator who’s more about showboating than producing real results?
The Democrats need to take a hard look at their own. Instead of sending idealistic performers to Capitol Hill, maybe it’s time for genuine leaders to step up. Booker’s act is tired, and it’s America that pays the price every time these theatrics flop. When will the circus leave town so the grown-ups can handle business? It’s anyone’s guess.
