Crockett Defends DOJ In Hearing Blames Trump For Weaponization Dismisses Biden Accountability

A recent congressional hearing on the so-called “weaponization of the Justice Department” saw far-left Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett attempting to have it both ways. While she acknowledged the DOJ’s potential for weaponization, she was quick to exonerate the Biden administration from any blame, a classic example of liberal double-talk that leaves logic at the door. To her, it seems that political retribution is a concept best reserved for the opposition.

Crockett, the ranking member on the House Judiciary Subcommittee on Oversight, firmly claimed that Donald Trump is wielding the DOJ like a political club against his detractors. It’s interesting that a Democrat would see political bludgeoning as a problem, given the party’s historical predilection for using government agencies as an extension of partisan warfare. As if on cue, she described the DOJ and FBI as being “rogue” but quickly pivoted to asserting that terms like “weaponization” are just buzzwords used by Republicans to justify dismantling federal agencies. Talk about projecting!

Her argument continued with the notion that speaking out against governmental abuse will result in retaliation. It’s a captivating narrative, particularly when one considers that her party often operates under similar pretenses. Ironically, while claiming concern about the treatment of whistleblowers, she misses the broader picture—working under a failing agency in a partisan atmosphere is bound to ruffle feathers on both sides. Beware any federal employee who dares to speak up against a narrative crafted in the halls of progressive power.

Crockett also took aim at the Trump administration regarding various prosecutions, implying that his DOJ sought loyalty over lawfulness. The contention that prioritizing loyalty to Trump is tantamount to government abuse would be more credible if not for the growing list of political prosecutions spearheaded by Democrats. The same individuals who applaud state-level prosecutions against Trump while condemning federal scrutiny have very selective standards for justice. Apparently, crimes initiated by the left are socially acceptable while those from the right are a reason for immediate incarceration.

The cherry on top of this wild sundae was her defense of state prosecutors making what she labeled lawful prosecutions out of the January 6 incident. There’s a curious juxtaposition here: What is lawful in her eyes somehow evades the label of weaponization when it fits her agenda. As she encouraged her colleagues to conduct “real oversight,” it could not have been more apparent that she’s fine with oversight—as long as it doesn’t involve examining motives or methods that could potentially shine a light on her party’s activities.

Crockett’s performance was remarkable, not for its insight but for its acrobatics. The contortions required to absolve her party while lecturing about justice are reminiscent of a three-ring circus where logic takes a backseat, and accountability is swept under the rug. The hearing echoed an ongoing concern about the DOJ becoming a tool for political gain, albeit through a lens that seems only to magnify the actions of the other side. If one thing is clear, it’s that when the left speaks about weaponization, they are more concerned about their own weapons falling into the wrong hands.
