Washington, D.C.’s Mayor Muriel Bowser took a little field trip down to Georgia to attend the Masters golf tournament. Not only did she use taxpayer dollars to fly there, but she even had the audacity to claim it was for “sports and economic development.” Maybe she was trying to figure out how to revitalize her city by watching some golf swings? Who knows.
According to her communications director Susana Castillo, Bowser was invited by a city task force working on the Gallery Place and Chinatown neighborhood. Yeah, because attending a golf tournament is definitely a crucial step in revitalizing a neighborhood. Maybe they were looking for some golf-themed decorations.
Just another example of Democrats wasting taxpayer $$$.

Castillo mentioned that the mayor is always on the lookout to “advance administrative interests,” whether she’s in Washington, D.C., or living it up in Augusta. Maybe she wanted to take a break from D.C. politics and tee up some new policies on the golf course.
This isn’t the first time Bowser has mixed business with pleasure. Last year, she jet-setted all the way to Dubai for the United Nations Climate Change Conference. Because solving climate change obviously can’t be done without a little golf tournament inspiration.
It’s no surprise that news of Bowser’s trip to the Masters comes right after the city struggled to balance its budget. And to think, while the city was trying to cut spending for child care workers, Bowser was practicing her swing in Georgia. Classic.
The Washington Examiner reached out to Bowser’s office for a comment, but are we really expecting an explanation that makes this all seem sensible? Who knows, maybe the mayor will surprise us and announce a new golf-themed economic initiative for the city.
