President Trump is making his way to Washington D.C. for a not-so-fun-filled afternoon as he faces new charges brought by Special Counsel Jack Smith. And let’s not buy into Attorney General Merrick Garland’s claim that Smith’s investigation is fair and impartial. This guy has a history of protecting former IRS official Lois Lerner, a key player in targeting conservative tea party groups back in 2010. It’s like the fox guarding the henhouse!
Remember when Attorney General Eric Holder was asked to make Smith available for testimony in front of the House Oversight Committee? Yeah, that happened because Smith and Lerner were working together to weaponize the powerful IRS agency. After all the drama, Lerner retired without any consequences, enjoying a nice bonus paid for by us taxpayers. Talk about a slap in the face!
Now, House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Darrell Issa and Subcommittee on Economic Growth, Job Creation and Regulatory Affairs Chairman Jim Jordan are requesting that the Department of Justice give them access to Smith for a transcribed interview. It seems like these guys smell something fishy going on.

But wait, there’s more! Smith’s subordinate spilled the beans during an interview with Committee investigators, revealing that the Justice Department had actually met with Lerner in October 2010, earlier than anyone knew, to discuss potential criminal enforcement related to political speech of nonprofit groups after the Supreme Court’s Citizens United decision. The Justice Department was getting cozy with the IRS to crack down on those pesky conservative nonprofits. Unbelievable!
To top it off, the federal judge assigned to Trump’s case is a Democratic activist. As if things couldn’t get any less fair. It’s clear that Trump is facing a biased system that’s out to get him. But hey, what else is new?
