In a move to combat what he sees as divisive and wasteful government programs, Missouri Republican Senator Eric Schmitt has introduced a new bill titled the Abolish Government DEI Act. The legislation aims to abolish Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) offices in at least 40 government entities, effectively putting an end to DEI initiatives that are paid for by U.S. tax dollars.

According to Senator Schmitt, these programs have done nothing more than waste taxpayer money and sow division among federal employees. He believes that President Joe Biden has poisoned traditionally non-partisan government entities with his divisive DEI politics. In his opinion, DEI officers, buzzwords, and feel-good initiatives authored by Biden and bureaucrats are undercutting the very foundation of our country, which is built on meritocracy.
Schmitt has made it clear that he will work tirelessly to counter what he considers to be inherently unfair and wasteful DEI initiatives in our federal government. If the legislation were to pass the Senate, all of the listed government entities would be terminated when the bill is signed into law.
In Senator Schmitt’s view, America is the greatest meritocracy the world has ever seen, and he believes that DEI initiatives undermine the principles that make this country great. His aim is to restore fairness and eliminate wasteful government practices. With the introduction of the Abolish Government DEI Act, Schmitt hopes to put an end to programs that he believes have strayed from their original purpose and have become detrimental to the American people.
