Madison Mayor Satya Rhodes-Conway, a Democrat, made an appearance at the Democratic National Committee’s press conference in Milwaukee and boldly proclaimed that Democrat-run cities are actually thriving. Yes, you heard that right. Apparently, according to Mayor Rhodes-Conway, if you want to witness the pinnacle of success, you should head straight to these Democrat-led urban havens.

In her speech, the Mayor stated, “So I would suggest that anybody who thinks that this country is in decline — come to cities. Because Democrat mayors all across the nation are creating great places where people want to be, where growth is happening, and where our economy is growing.” Can you believe the audacity of that statement? It’s as if she expects us to ignore the crumbling infrastructure, soaring crime rates, and oppressive regulations that oftentimes characterize these cities.

But let’s talk about Milwaukee, the very city where this press conference took place. On the very same day, nearly 30 people were shot, resulting in four tragic deaths. Yes, that’s right, four lives lost in a single day. And no, these were not isolated incidents. Milwaukee has been plagued by an epidemic of violence, with two mass shootings occurring just blocks apart. Quite the demonstration of a vibrant and safe Democrat-run city, wouldn’t you say?
While it’s true that not every Democrat-run city is suffering, it is undeniable that the majority have seen a decline in recent times. The aftermath of the destructive and violent Black Lives Matter (BLM) riots, coupled with the disastrous impact of COVID-related restrictions, has left many of these cities in shambles. Businesses have shuttered, livelihoods have been destroyed, and crime rates have skyrocketed. It’s no wonder that people are flocking to safer and more prosperous red states like Florida, while population exodus is rampant in Democrat strongholds such as California, Illinois, and New York.
So, forgive me for not believing Mayor Rhodes-Conway’s rose-colored vision of Democrat-run cities. The evidence simply does not align with her claims. Yes, there may be a handful of success stories, but they are overshadowed by the undeniable reality that so many of these cities are drowning in chaos and decline. It’s time we acknowledge the failures of liberal leadership and seek conservative solutions that prioritize law and order, economic growth, and the well-being of all citizens. Only then can we truly make America great, not just in spite of Democrat-run cities, but in every corner of our beloved country.
