In a shocking turn of events, it has been reported that Democratic Rep. Henry Cuellar of Texas was carjacked at gunpoint in the notorious Navy Yard neighborhood of Washington, D.C. Apparently, even members of Congress are not safe from the rampant crime wave sweeping the city. It’s ironic that Cuellar, who has been critical of the Biden administration’s handling of the border crisis and has even dared to support common sense abortion restrictions, would become a victim of random violence.

Thankfully, Cuellar escaped unharmed, but the incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangerous streets that Democrats have allowed to fester under their watch. The spike in carjackings in the nation’s capital is a direct result of the soft-on-crime policies championed by the city council. It’s absolutely mind-boggling that they would actually reduce criminal penalties for such a serious offense. But hey, to Democrats, criminals deserve a slap on the wrist while law-abiding citizens suffer.
Comes amid a surge in violent crime in DC. Just looking at carjackings alone:
2018: 140 carjackings
2022: 485 carjackings
2023: 651 carjackings (thus far)It’s completely out of control. https://t.co/lZ9TEupTtS

What’s truly astonishing is that the majority of House Democrats actually voted to side with the dangerous lunacy of the city council. Cuellar, to his credit, had the sense to align himself with House Republicans and oppose this insanity. Unfortunately, the Democrat-controlled Senate later overturned their previous support for a tougher stance on carjacking, leaving those House Democrats high and dry. It’s a clear demonstration of their lack of leadership and inability to make tough decisions.
Meanwhile, the city council continues to bury their heads in the sand and deny that there is a crime crisis in Washington, D.C. They even had the audacity to testify before Congress, claiming that everything is just fine and dandy. Well, the numbers don’t lie. Violent crime is up a staggering 39 percent this year, and murder rates have risen by 37 percent. These are not statistics to be taken lightly.
As the crime continues to spiral out of control, it’s clear that Washington, D.C. is in dire need of some adult supervision. The Democrats’ reckless support for lenient policies is only making matters worse. It’s about time they put the safety and well-being of their constituents first instead of pushing their radical agenda.
So next time you see a member of Congress being carjacked in broad daylight, remember who’s to blame. It’s the Democrats who have prioritized the rights of criminals over the safety of our communities.
