Rep. Mark Pocan of Wisconsin has once again demonstrated an alarming disregard for unity and reason in American politics, choosing instead to traffic in inflammatory rhetoric that does nothing but deepen the country’s divisions. In a series of social media tirades and public statements, Pocan labeled Republicans “extremists” and even went as far as to invoke the word “Nazis”—a historically loaded slur that only serves to stoke anger and resentment during a period when national healing is most needed. It’s an insult not just to his colleagues across the aisle, but to the millions of Americans who reject far-left ideology and simply seek respectful debate.
Pocan’s track record on confronting hate and extremism is disturbing at best. He was one of several Democrats who refused to vote for a congressional resolution condemning a Molotov cocktail attack against Jews honoring Israeli hostages, because he didn’t approve of its “partisan wording” on antisemitism. That objection speaks volumes about his real priorities—more concerned with woke word games than taking a principled stand against terrorism or hate crimes. In moments that demand moral clarity, Pocan has opted for political pettiness.

This pattern of divisive behavior is nothing new. Pocan previously launched profanity-laced attacks at a Jewish White House advisor, Stephen Miller, lacing his tirades with expletives and identity-based smears. Rather than fostering respectful dialogue, Pocan routinely sacrifices civility for the cheap thrills of social media outrage. It’s become painfully clear that many on the radical left would rather preach unity than practice it, always ready to demonize any voice that doesn’t conform to progressive orthodoxy.
In the aftermath of Charlie Kirk’s assassination—a time when real leaders should model reflection and respect—Pocan abandoned all decorum. Instead of standing back from incendiary accusations, he fanned the flames of division, doubling down on his accusations and justifying his party’s nasty habit of overusing the word “Nazi” to describe political opponents. This is not the response America needs; it’s the very kind of hypocrisy that undermines trust in institutions and shreds the country’s civic fabric.
Americans deserve better than this. Rather than curbing extremism, Mark Pocan and his ilk put it on display, reminding everyone of the disdain some left-wing politicians have for millions of voters. The left loves to claim the moral high ground, yet their own political leaders often embody the very divisiveness they pretend to oppose. If unity is ever to become more than a slogan, it’s time for politicians like Pocan to abandon their double standards and treat all Americans with the respect and dignity they deserve.
