She boldly declared, “We’ll see you in court,” seemingly unaware that such bravado might just land her in the federal hot seat. One has to question whether she’s prepared for a courtroom battle over something so straightforward as the understanding of biological science and sports. With such a direct conflict with federal law, one might wonder if Mills confused her role as governor with that of a judge.
Pam Bondi, Trump’s attorney general, understandably stepped in to remind the rogue states of their legal obligations. She made it abundantly clear that allowing boys to compete against girls violates Title IX. It’s important to remember that this isn’t just about sports; it’s about upholding a federal law designed to protect the rights of female athletes. When states decide they can flout federal law at will, it raises the question of whether they understand the very Constitution they are sworn to uphold. The federal government, typically loathed by conservatives for its overreach, is now the necessary guardian of common sense.

It’s time to put the pedal to the metal and hold these states accountable as federal law takes precedence over any political grandstanding.
