The Democrats’ ongoing meltdown over Elon Musk’s involvement with the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) is becoming a bad sitcom that viewers can’t stop watching, no matter how cringeworthy it gets. For weeks, the party line has been “Nobody voted for Elon Musk,” as if that’s some ironclad rule against making the government less wasteful. This bizarre mantra needs to be put to rest, preferably with an air horn that cuts through the nonsense.
Recently, Senator Elizabeth Warren has taken center stage in this comedy of errors, furiously tweeting her outrage over Musk and his “DOGE cabal.” Her hot take involves urging Musk to “follow the law” and vacate governmental premises, essentially demanding he stop doing what he’s apparently come in to do: clean up the bloated bureaucratic mess. One has to wonder if Fauxcahontas thinks she’s starring in a superhero movie instead of attempting to make sense in a political debate.
Here’s the deal: when citizens voted for Donald Trump in the 2024 election, they also cast a vote for his vision of a streamlined government. Guess what? Elon Musk was part of that vision. The chaos from the left over Musk’s involvement doesn’t stem from genuine democratic principles but rather from their fear of losing their grip on the levers of power they’ve tightly held for so long.
Interestingly enough, those grasping at pearls over Musk’s presence seem to have short memories. In 2020, when unelected health czar Dr. Fauci decided to lock down the country, these very same Democrats were more than giddy to embrace their newfound authoritarianism. “We’re all in this together” was the rallying cry, but when Musk steps up to suggest a different approach to government efficiency, suddenly it’s a full-on panic mode. The double standards are practically visible in the air.

Let’s face it: this fracas about who is and isn’t elected falls a bit flat when one considers the millions of federal employees populating the vast administrative landscape. From IRS agents snooping through taxpayers’ lives to FBI agents with nary a ballot in their back pocket running investigations, the majority of government operations rely on unelected officials. Warren, who surely knows the ropes of Washington better than most, acts as if this reality is a mere detail to be brushed aside.
And let’s not delude ourselves into thinking Musk just stumbled upon the scene like a kid in a candy store. He’s racked up enough high-level security clearances through his work with NASA, SpaceX, and the Department of Defense to know a thing or two about the inner workings of government. The left’s animosity towards DOGE is rooted in the panic of losing their administrative authority, rather than any principled stance against unelected officials. It’s almost tragic—watching them realize that their reign over the bureaucracy is crumbling under the weight of transparency and efficiency.
