Democrats Scramble as Biden Presidency Wobbles Amid Calls for Change

Congressional Democrats are in full panic mode, desperately scrambling to find a lifeboat for their sinking Titanic of a presidency. Despite the fireworks surrounding former President Donald Trump’s near-martyrdom in Pennsylvania and his daring pick of Sen. J.D. Vance as a running mate, the Democrats haven’t put their “Rescue Us from Biden” mission on ice.

Biden, the man who can’t remember what he had for breakfast, has been granted a temporary respite from the incessant calls for him to step down, spurred by his latest display of ineptitude during the June 27 debate. If it were any other time, one would almost feel sorry for the guy. Almost.

Even though the anti-Biden chorus has taken a brief intermission, the tune remains the same. Not a single Democrat among the original 19 who wanted Biden to bow out has had a change of heart. Representatives Pat Ryan and Seth Moulton are still beating the drum for a new nominee, suggesting they’d rather hitch their wagon to a question mark than the current president.

Meanwhile, congressional Democrats are sparring over whether to fast-track Biden’s nomination through a virtual roll call. This move, dripping with desperation, seeks to lock in the nomination before any more of Biden’s skeletons decide to join him on the debate stage. The letter circulating among Democrats warns that such a maneuver smacks of political scheming that would surely fracture the already fragile party unity.

As if this circus needed more clowns, Rep. Susan Wild of the swing district fame is hopping on the anti-Biden bandwagon, ready to sign the plea against the virtual roll call. Rep. Jared Huffman’s office confirmed that the letter is making the rounds, with Huffman and his merry band of Democrats sounding the alarm against this blatant power grab.

And yet, with every gripe and groan from his own party, Biden insists he’s going nowhere. His “mental acuity” is in top shape, he claims, despite evidence to the contrary seen on any given Tuesday.

While Biden’s handlers insist he can stumble through another term, House Democrats with vulnerable seats are shivering in their boots, fearful that a Biden ticket spells doom for down-ballot races. Even Nancy Pelosi, the queen of political maneuvering, is hedging her bets on whether Sleepy Joe should take another shot at the Oval Office.

Amidst all this Democratic hand-wringing, let’s not lose sight of Trump, who emerges from this whirlwind of chaos looking stronger than ever. Republicans are rallying behind him, propping him up as a symbol of resilience while Biden’s support crumbles like a stale cookie.

In this political theater, Trump’s brush with danger has only added to his mystique, proving once again that while Biden struggles to stay awake, Trump maintains his legendary knack for staying in the spotlight.
