The Democrats, faced with the reality of Donald Trump delivering yet another impactful speech, are likely gnashing their teeth and reaching for the nearest crisis blanket. Their strategy of noisy protests and choreographed defiance was executed with all the grace of a drunken elephant. Representative Al Green of Texas even managed to give security a workout by prompting his own eviction before Trump could even finish his opening remarks. It’s almost as if they believe the louder they yell, the more their dissent will be heard. Spoiler alert: it doesn’t work that way.
Despite the Democrats’ attempts at disruption, Trump’s address stood as a beacon of positivity and strength. While the opposition camped out in their seats with folded arms and frowns, the speech was a masterclass in invigorating rhetoric. Full of heartwarming moments, it was designed to unite the country, but that didn’t stop the Democrats from proving they could take up a whole row without clapping or even nodding in acknowledgment. The only faux pas was their own refusal to participate in a moment that could have been a bridge-building experience.
CNN’s post-speech spin, as expected, fell flat. With a sea of data showing approval, their instant poll indicated that a dazzling majority loved what Trump had to say. But, in classic CNN fashion, the network attempted to vomit on the good news by playing the semantics game. They squealed about the poll not being representative of the overall electorate — a flimsy excuse given that it was a poll of speech watchers. Yes, CNN, we all know those viewers tend to be a bit more interested in Trump’s ambitions than your relentless twisting of reality.

Political director David Chalian took the lead in downplaying the numbers while simultaneously providing a glimmer of truth. Even as he emphasized a bias toward Republicans in the poll sample, he had to shuffle around the numbers that revealed a significant 69% of viewers had a positive reaction. It’s almost comical how a network can turn a win into a loss when it involves Trump. In a stunning display of denial, Chalian had the audacity to say that this was Trump’s “low watermark.” It’s like drowning in a pool of success and somehow declaring the water level a disaster.
In the grand finale of this self-inflicted debacle, CNN made it crystal clear that they value their narrative over any objective truth. Instead of reflecting on why Trump’s message resonated so well, the network hid behind endless excuses and fabrications, desperately framing anything that might favor Trump as a letdown. The only real letdown, of course, is the Democrats and their ongoing temper tantrums, which are becoming the norm rather than an exception. This speech was a scoring opportunity for the GOP, and it could not have gone worse for the left, if they were trying to sabotage themselves. Like a duck on a pond, Democrats appear calm on the surface, but under the water they’re paddling furiously to stay afloat while suppressing the echoes of their own failure.
