Demonizing ICE: The Dangerous Consequences of Political Rhetoric

Friday’s segment with Greg Kelly pulled back the curtain on something every decent American can see but too many in the press refuse to admit: a coordinated campaign by Democrats, sympathetic media outlets, and activist groups to demonize ICE agents for doing their jobs. This smear campaign isn’t abstract rhetoric — it’s been cited by the Department of Homeland Security as contributing to a sharp spike in assaults and threats against federal immigration officers.

Tech companies and activist developers have only made matters worse by turning law enforcement into a target of online harassment and vigilantism. Apple’s recent removal of the ICEBlock app following pressure from the Justice Department shows how Big Tech will capitulate under political pressure while claiming to protect safety, even when such actions silence tools that some see as legitimate transparency.

This is not rhetorical flourish — real people have been harmed. The horrific shooting at an ICE facility in Dallas and other violent incidents that have followed inflammatory rhetoric prove that demonizing federal officers has consequences for public safety and innocent families caught in the crossfire. Americans who care about law and order should be outraged that political theatre helped create the conditions for such violence.

The federal government has finally begun to respond to the escalation, with Attorney General Pam Bondi directing DOJ agents to help guard detention sites and launch counterintelligence efforts to track attacks on federal personnel. That move is long overdue, and it underscores that protecting the men and women who enforce immigration law is a matter of national security, not a political concession.

Meanwhile, local officials and left-leaning activists who cheer on protests that cross into harassment and property damage must be held accountable when their rhetoric translates into threats and assaults. DHS and other agencies have documented dramatic upticks in attacks tied to the same polarization and performative politics that dominate cable TV and social media. The safety of federal officers and the rule of law cannot be collateral damage for political posturing.

Patriots who believe in secure borders and respect for law enforcement should stand with ICE agents, their families, and the communities that rely on safe enforcement of our immigration laws. We need leaders who will call out the lies, stop the cancellations, and ensure that those who serve the country are not left defenseless by the very institutions that should protect them. Hardworking Americans deserve public servants who defend truth, not those who profit from demonizing our defenders.
