The Democratic Party is worried that the number of African-American voters may decrease in the upcoming presidential election in 2024. Although they have been a reliable part of the party's base, their enthusiasm has started to wane. In the 2022 midterm elections, the number of African-American voters dropped by 10 percentage points compared to 2018.
The decline in turnout among African-American voters is a concern for Joe Biden, as they were instrumental in his victory in 2020. Recent polls also suggest that there is a growing dissatisfaction among this group, especially among younger individuals.

Mondale Robinson, who founded the Black Male Voters Project, criticized the Democratic Party for its failure to reach out to African-American men. He claims that these individuals are either non-voters or sporadic voters. He believes that the party should make an effort to include them in its efforts to win over undecided voters.
A recent poll revealed that Biden's approval rating among African-American adults has dropped significantly, from a high of 90% during his first few months in office to a low of 58%.
The Democratic Party appears to be divided over Biden's potential candidacy for president in 2024. Around half of the Democrats would like to see him run, while only 41% of African-Americans would like to see him succeed. Also, only 55% of them think that they would support him in the general election, leaving the party in a bit of a quandary.
A national survey also revealed that support for the Republican Party has increased among African-American individuals, even though they have been supporting Democrats in the past. This is a negative sign for the Democratic Party as this group has been a reliable component of its base.
The Democratic Party is aware of the significance of connecting with African-Americans, and it is doing everything it can to do so. Cedric Richmond, a DNC official and a former Biden aide, said that the party must reach out to African-Americans and show them how the democratic process works for them. He noted that previous initiatives had failed because they did not connect with them effectively.
Ace Conyers, a 22-year-old student, said that personal connections are very important when it comes to voting. He believes that people should genuinely want to support the candidate they are backing. Unfortunately, many young African-American voters are not excited about the presidential election in 2024.
Bailey Scott, a student, expressed her lack of enthusiasm when it came to the presidential elections, as none of the candidates she wanted to see would be running. She currently sees Harris and Biden as the lesser evils.
The Democratic Party needs to do everything it can to maintain its support among African-Americans, as they are a crucial part of its base and could potentially decide the presidential election in 2024. This demographic must be convinced that it is worthwhile to vote.
