Last week, the Senate once again failed to pass a standalone bill providing aid to Israel after the devastating terrorist attack. It’s truly mind-boggling to see how little the Democrats care about our important ally in the Middle East. This time, Sen. Roger Marshall, a Republican from Kansas, tried to bring the bill forward through a “sneak attack.” Kudos to him for trying to get some much-needed aid to Israel.

But, surprise, surprise! The bill failed once again, with a party-line vote of 51-48 against allowing it to proceed. It’s outrageous how the Democrats block anything that doesn’t align with their political agenda. They’re so obsessed with funding Ukraine that they’re willing to ignore the urgent need to support our friends in Israel. This should be a wake-up call for all Americans who value our alliances and national security.
Sen. JD Vance, another Republican championing the bill, hit the nail on the head when he said, “Senate Democrats are obsessed with funding Ukraine.” He called out their tactics, explaining how they use widespread public support for aid to Israel as a political cover to push for more funding for Ukraine. It’s despicable to use a tragedy as a bargaining chip for their own political gain.
Vance made it clear that supporting Israel and providing aid is common sense. It’s telling that the bill already passed in the House, yet the Senate Democrats refuse to even discuss it seriously. They’d rather throw around slogans and play politics than have a real conversation about our policies in Ukraine and Israel. They know they can’t defend President Biden’s disastrous policies, so they’re using Israel as a cover.
The Democrats’ unwavering opposition to this standalone bill is truly disturbing. They’re tying up the Senate floor, preventing Republicans from even speaking in support of aid to Israel. This chaotic behavior shows their utter disregard for the democratic process and for the American people who want to see action. And Sen. Peter Welch bringing up Sen. Patty Murray’s background as a preschool teacher to somehow justify their obstruction is downright condescending.
It’s important to note that this vote occurred just hours after a massive “Stand With Israel” event at the National Mall. Tens of thousands of Americans gathered to show their support for Israel, yet the Democrats in the Senate continue to ignore the will of the people. It’s clear that they’re more interested in their own political agenda than in standing strong with our allies.
The Democrats’ refusal to support aid for Israel speaks volumes about their misplaced priorities. It’s time for Americans to demand better from their elected officials and to hold them accountable for neglecting our crucial relationships in the Middle East.
