DeSantis Defends Trump’s Arlington Visit Amid Harris Critique

Ron DeSantis, the die-hard Florida governor, has come out swinging in defense of former President Donald Trump over his Arlington National Cemetery visit, where Trump took a moment to honor the 13 heroic servicemembers lost during the catastrophic 2021 Abbey Gate attack in Afghanistan. While doing so, the man in charge of the sunshine state highlights a glaring hypocrisy in the reaction from the left, notably Vice President Kamala Harris.

Harris, in her infinite wisdom—or lack thereof—decided to take to social media to blast Trump, claiming he “disrespected sacred ground.” It’s rich considering the fact that she and her boss, Sleepy Joe, seem more concerned about slamming Trump rather than owning up to the incompetent withdrawal from Afghanistan that led to the deaths of these brave individuals. Rather than grasping the opportunity to reflect on the sacrifices made, Harris sees a political stunt where others see heartfelt remembrance.

DeSantis made it crystal clear: Trump wasn’t just wandering around the cemetery looking for a photo op. He was invited by the Gold Star families themselves. These are the people who lost their loved ones, yet Harris and her ilk seem more focused on criticizing Trump than addressing the real problem: how and why their family members paid the ultimate price. If there’s anything that raises eyebrows here, it’s the misplaced outrage aimed at a gesture of compassion while neglecting the reasons behind the tragedy.

On social media platform Truth Social, Trump didn’t hold back, laying the blame squarely where it belongs—on Harris and Biden. He suggested they should have been at Arlington on the anniversary of the Abbey Gate attack instead of throwing stones from afar. Additionally, he debunked reports of a tiff between his campaign staff and cemetery personnel, labeling it nothing more than a fabricated story by Harris and her so-called “misinformation squad.” It’s almost comical how far the left will go to manufacture drama.

Backing DeSantis in this showdown, former Democratic Rep. Tulsi Gabbard chimed in to give her two cents, noting that family members invited Trump to the cemetery. She also mentioned she didn’t hear a peep about any alleged altercation until it gained traction in the media as yet another leftist narrative. Furthermore, Senator Tom Cotton echoed this sentiment, pointing out that both Biden and Harris were also invited to attend the event but didn’t show up. The irony is palpable as he called them out for neglecting their responsibilities while attempting to villainize a man who was there to honor the fallen.

At this point, with allies like DeSantis, Gabbard, and Cotton defending Trump, it’s clear that the left’s outrage is as misplaced as their leadership. Instead of focusing on who should have been remembered, they’re nitpicking over a visit designed to pay respects. One can’t help but wonder if the left truly understands the meaning of honor, sacrifice, and, most importantly, accountability.
