In the latest poll by I&I/TIPP, potential voters were asked who they would choose as Donald Trump’s running mate in the upcoming 2024 presidential election. The poll surveyed 538 Republicans and presented them with 21 names to choose from.
Not surprisingly, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis emerged as the frontrunner with 15% of the support. Following DeSantis were familiar faces like Nikki Haley, Greg Abbott, and Ben Carson. Interestingly, the option “not sure” received a significant 27% of the responses, indicating some uncertainty among voters.

When asked for their second choice, DeSantis continued to lead with 14% support. However, the rankings shifted slightly with other candidates like Tim Scott, Ben Carson, and Nikki Haley gaining more traction.
It seems that voters are gravitating towards candidates with experience and a track record of accomplishments, similar to Trump’s choice of Mike Pence in 2016. This preference for steady and proven leaders could influence Trump’s ultimate decision in selecting his running mate.
The strong support for candidates like DeSantis and Haley reflects a desire for stability and reliability in the upcoming election. Trump’s choice for vice president will be crucial in garnering support from the base and continuing to push forward with his agenda.
