DeSantis Puts Public Safety First by Erasing Political Street Art

Governor Ron DeSantis is cleaning up Florida’s streets by removing political artwork from public roadways across the state. The Florida Department of Transportation sent orders to cities demanding they remove rainbow crosswalks and other painted street art by early September. Cities that refuse to comply could lose millions in state transportation funding.

The move follows guidance from federal Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy, who made it clear that roads should focus on safety, not political messages. DeSantis is simply following federal direction and putting public safety first. Roads are meant for cars and pedestrians, not to push political agendas on taxpayers.

Liberal activists are having meltdowns over the removal of a rainbow crosswalk near the Pulse nightclub in Orlando. They used chalk to redraw the rainbow design after workers painted over it with regular pavement. This shows how desperate the left is to force their ideology onto public spaces.

The state’s order affects more than 100 painted crosswalks and street murals statewide. These include not just LGBTQ pride displays but also Back the Blue police support art and other political messaging. DeSantis is treating all political street art equally under the new rules.

Democrat politicians are calling this a cruel attack on LGBTQ people and minorities. Orlando’s mayor claimed the removal was a heartless political act without any safety discussion. But DeSantis is simply enforcing neutral standards that keep politics off taxpayer-funded roads.

At least nine Florida cities are fighting back against the state’s common-sense directive. Fort Lauderdale held emergency meetings to figure out how to keep their political street art. These local officials would rather waste taxpayer money on legal fights than follow simple safety rules.

The governor has faced criticism before for his strong conservative policies protecting children and families. His administration has passed laws limiting inappropriate classroom discussions about gender and sexuality. This latest move shows DeSantis continues to stand firm against woke ideology taking over public spaces.

While Democrats cry about painted crosswalks, hardworking Floridians care more about real issues like affordable housing and hurricane preparedness. DeSantis understands that government should focus on essential services, not turning roads into political art galleries that divide communities and waste taxpayer dollars.
