It’s about time someone in Washington woke up and started getting tough on sanctuary cities. For years, these reckless liberal strongholds have thrown open their arms to illegal immigrants, undermining our laws, threatening our safety, and sticking it to American taxpayers. But now, there’s finally a leader in the Department of Homeland Security who’s not afraid to play hardball. Secretary Markwayne Mullin is reportedly considering a bold new move: pulling customs operations out of major international airports that cozy up to sanctuary city policies.
Let’s be honest—Democrat mayors have given foreign criminals a free pass for way too long. Sanctuary cities claim to stand for “compassion,” but all they really do is protect lawbreakers and make a mockery of U.S. borders. The left coddles these cities, refusing to work with federal law enforcement while they complain about crime and chaos on their streets. No one wants to talk about how this failed social experiment dumps the costs directly on hardworking Americans.

Secretary Mullin isn’t playing games. He recognizes that international airports are the front lines in our battle against drugs, human trafficking, and terrorism. Yet, sanctuary city policies infect these hubs, turning them into gateways for illegal immigrants and criminals—because Democrats in big cities care more about scoring woke points than keeping their constituents safe. If they won’t cooperate with DHS, let them face the consequences. Without customs screening, their airports—and their wallets—are going to feel the pain.
What’s truly laughable is the left’s predictable outrage anytime someone dares to enforce our laws. When America’s security is at stake, all the liberals can offer is the same tired name-calling and virtue-signaling. It’s easy for globalists and career politicians to play the sympathy card when they’re living behind gated communities and protected by private security. But regular Americans are the ones stuck dealing with the fallout: drugs pouring over the border, jobs undercut, police overwhelmed, and local businesses robbed blind by people who shouldn’t even be here.
Mullin’s message is simple: Follow the law, or start feeling the consequences. America’s patience is running thin with grandstanding politicians putting foreigners first and citizens last. Maybe if airports in these sanctuary cities start losing federal customs services—and the dollars and convenience that come with them—the left will finally wake up and realize you can’t have open borders and national security at the same time.
If these bleeding-heart city leaders don’t like it, there’s a solution: Stop coddling lawbreakers and start working for the American people. Or are they so blinded by their own anti-American agenda that they’ll watch their cities go down in flames just to prove a political point?
