Disney’s New Captain America Film Targets Trump, Angers Fans

Disney’s upcoming “Captain America: Brave New World” is the latest example of Hollywood’s unhealthy obsession with politics, and this time, they’ve apparently set their sights on a certain orange-haired commander-in-chief. Reports indicate that the film has an implicit nod to Donald Trump, revealing just how much the former president continues to dominate the minds of the Hollywood elite, even when they should be focused on making a good movie.

The film, set to premiere next month, has already undergone significant reshoots. Test screenings apparently went so poorly that Disney felt it best to risk the ire of its true fans rather than let the production limp across the finish line. The new Captain America is portrayed by Anthony Mackie, better known as Falcon in previous Marvel installments. While some might be tempted to discuss the rather suspicious trend of race-swapping in Hollywood casting decisions, this particular change takes a backseat to the bigger, more concerning issue at hand.

The storyline revolves around Harrison Ford’s character, Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross, who is described as a “demagogic military leader” who undergoes a drastic transformation into a caricature reminiscent of Trump. Yes, the Hollywood types have conjured up their own version of an irrational, orange-hued superhuman. This paints a clear picture of how deeply entrenched the former president’s persona is in the minds of those who make a living entertaining people.

Disney, apparently recognizing the enormous backlash it has received for pushing political agendas in its films, is trying to play it safe this time. A technical crew member hinted that Disney was not looking to invite another culture war with this release, a smart move considering their recent track record of alienating audiences. Many have grown tired of the overreach of leftist ideology and are simply trying to enjoy entertainment without a side of political lectures.

When it comes to the notion of Captain America representing America, Anthony Mackie’s comments shed light on a troubling trend. It’s becoming painfully clear that the animation studio’s decision-making is directly influenced by a desire to push a narrative rather than create a compelling story. The irony, however, is that while they attempt to label their product “Brave New World,” they themselves seem to be stumbling into a brave new world of disillusionment and discontent with their own audience.

As more viewers become disillusioned with Disneyland’s attempt to veer into ideologically driven content, it may be too late for Disney to reclaim its loyal fan base. The entertainment industry, which consistently fails to grasp the average American’s sentiment towards tradition and patriotism, is in dire need of a reality check. Perhaps Disney should focus less on vague political references and more on delivering a product that resonates with its audience—one that doesn’t assume everyone is on board with the latest narrative dictated by Hollywood elites.
