Don Lemon Criticizes DEI Movement, Cautions Against its Extremes

It seems that even staunch liberal Don Lemon is starting to feel that the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) movement has gone too far. The former CNN host appeared on Bill Maher’s show and voiced his concerns about how the DEI movement has become like a religion, and those who criticize it are cast out. Lemon also mentioned that media companies need to take a hard look at what’s happening inside their organizations.

This comes as a surprise to many, especially considering Lemon’s history of openly criticizing former President Donald Trump and his conservative policies. It appears that even those on the left are starting to see the potential downsides of the DEI movement.

The DEI movement has been under extra scrutiny lately, with NPR’s new CEO, Katherine Maher, facing backlash for past social media posts. Additionally, a study by Speech First, a First Amendment advocacy group, found that two-thirds of American colleges require DEI initiatives as a graduation requirement.

Lemon’s remarks are sure to stir up some controversy within liberal circles, as he himself acknowledged that he expects to receive backlash from liberals for his comments. But it seems that even those who have been ardent supporters of the left’s pet projects are starting to question the extent to which DEI initiatives are being pushed.
