El Paso, Texas is about to get a new hotel…oh wait, sorry, it’s actually a shelter for immigrants who entered the country illegally. Yup, you read that right – a shiny new space for folks who didn’t quite grasp the concept of following the rules.

But fear not, because the compassionate souls behind this project are hoping to ease the border “crisis” in El Paso by giving these lawbreakers a comfortable place to hang their hats. How thoughtful!
The Border Servant Corps, along with the Annunciation House and the city of El Paso, have joined forces to make this dream a reality. The 39,000-square-foot facility near an airport will have the capacity to house a whopping 400 immigrants per day. That’s a whole lot of rule-breakers under one roof!
Kari Lenander, the Executive Director of the Border Servant Corps, seems positively thrilled about this new venture. She’s practically bursting with joy over the prospect of providing 24/7 services to support those who just couldn’t be bothered to go through the proper channels. Such dedication!
But wait, there’s more – Lenander’s group already has a shelter in Las Cruces, and their team in El Paso is hard at work, guiding immigrants at the airports. And if that’s not enough, they also have a team at the international bridge, ready to offer assistance to those daring enough to ignore immigration laws.
The kicker? Lenander is giddy with excitement over the prospect of even more capacity to help these folks out. The new shelter will have all the bells and whistles – from welcome spaces to legal aid – to ensure that these lawbreakers feel right at home.
