Elon Musk, the genius behind Tesla and SpaceX, has struck again, and this time Twitter users are up in arms! Musk, who is now the chairman of Twitter, recently implemented rate limits on the social media platform to combat data scraping and system manipulation. And boy, did the freakout commence!
In a typical move of his own brilliance, Musk claimed that these rate limits were necessary to prevent the degradation of service for normal users. He blamed companies using artificial intelligence for hogging up Twitter’s resources, saying it was “galling” to have to accommodate their excessive data scraping.

But here’s the kicker, folks: these rate limits have frustrated the average user to no end. While it may sound like the numbers were generous at first, with verified accounts being able to view 6,000 posts and unverified accounts 600, many folks found themselves hitting that limit faster than you can say “hyperloop.” And let’s not forget, Musk had the audacity to increase those limits to a measly 10,000 and 1,000 posts, respectively, as if that’s supposed to appease us.
Naturally, the Twitterati went wild with outrage. Forbes even published an article titled “No One Believes Elon Musk’s Explanation For Breaking Twitter,” because apparently no one can fathom that maybe he has a point about protecting the platform from nefarious AI scrapers. But then again, who needs reason and logic when there’s an opportunity to bash someone like Musk?
Of course, there were those who speculated that this move was just a sneaky way for Musk to push for more Twitter Blue subscriptions, or perhaps even a ploy to cut costs and increase revenue. Hey, when you’ve got a billionaire like Elon Musk calling the shots, anything is possible, right?
But let’s be real here. This outrage is nothing more than a bunch of entitled Twitter addicts throwing a tantrum because they can’t scroll mindlessly through endless threads without being interrupted by the dreaded “rate limit” message. It’s time to put down the smartphones and go outside, people!
Now, I’m not usually one to criticize Musk, but I have to admit, this move does seem a tad extreme. It’s like burning down your entire house just to kill a couple of pesky mosquitos. But hey, if it helps protect the integrity of the platform and ensures a better experience for us normal users, I’m all for it.
So, if you happen to see people scowling angrily at their phones today, just remember that it’s all because Elon Musk had the audacity to impose rate limits on Twitter. The horror!
