Elon Musk is set to become the government watchdog that many have been longing for, according to President Donald Trump, who is directing the Tesla and SpaceX mogul to investigate wasteful spending within the federal agencies. Reportedly, he won’t be earning a dime from this endeavor, but is it really that hard to believe? Elon Musk, the man who can produce electric cars faster than most can blink, will soon turn his eye toward the inefficiencies of the Department of Education.
Trump explained that the American people have long demanded accountability and transparency from Washington, and with Musk’s help, light will finally be shed on the mountain of wasteful spending lurking within the education bureaucracy. The President can barely contain his excitement about directing Musk to dive into the Education Department’s financials within the next 24 hours, echoing the sentiments of many voters who want to see taxpayers’ dollars spent wisely, rather than squandered on absurd programs that could make even the most comfortable CEO cringe.

In a twist worthy of an NFL playbook, just as Trump discusses scrutinizing the government’s finances, he also throws in his two cents on the upcoming Super Bowl. Not surprisingly, he’s rooting for the Kansas City Chiefs to take down the Philadelphia Eagles. The audacity of hope seems to be another hallmark of Trump’s leadership: tackle inefficiency in government while simultaneously engaging in a playful prediction game involving America’s favorite pastime.
While some may view Musk’s commitment to finding wastage as perplexing—after all, he’s already managing a space race and revolutionizing transport—the bond between Trump and Musk seems to be paving the way for a new relationship between Silicon Valley innovation and government accountability. With the potential for billions of taxpayer dollars to be saved, and government agencies held to the fire, one can only imagine what this duo might achieve in their quest to restore fiscal responsibility in a nation hungry for more from its leaders.
