In a hilarious turn of events, Kamala Harris finds herself with egg on her face regarding the controversy over Florida’s education standards. Harris had accused the new standards of promoting slavery in a positive light, but it turns out that the very same concept was included in an AP curriculum that she previously praised.

The accusation stemmed from a single line in over 200 pages of curriculum that highlighted how slaves developed skills which, in some cases, could be applied for their personal benefit. Harris jumped on this and made a taxpayer-funded trip to Florida to present herself as a freedom fighter against pro-slavery fascists.
In the state of Florida, they decided middle school students will be taught that enslaved people benefited from slavery.

However, it was revealed that Ron DeSantis did not write the education standards but rather a majority-black independent commission did. Dr. William B. Allen, a member of the commission, defended the curriculum and explained that it aimed to tell the truth about slavery and highlight stories of resilience and overcoming adversity.
What makes the situation even more ironic is that Harris had previously condemned Florida for rejecting an AP curriculum on black history that included the same concept of using learned skills to benefit oneself and others. It appears that Harris either didn’t bother to research the content of the curriculum she was promoting or was simply unaware of the overlap.
This incident highlights the hypocrisy and lack of preparation that has been characteristic of Harris’ political career. It’s just another example of the exhausting and comical state of politics in 2023.
