The network’s Erin Burnett appears to have developed a routine of bringing out a leftist former classmate of Vice President JD Vance to heap criticism on him and the Trump administration. This latest episode invited Sofia Nelson, a so-called “transgender” activist, for what can only be described as another predictable attack on Vance’s character and policies since he became part of the 2024 Republican ticket.
Since Vance’s ascension to the vice presidency under Donald Trump, Burnett has repeatedly featured Nelson, a former friend whose relevance seems tied solely to her agenda-driven commentary rather than genuine concern. During these appearances, Nelson has dived deep into sharing ancient email exchanges with Vance, all carefully curated for CNN’s liberal audience. This consistent outreach has all the hallmarks of a coordinated effort to undermine Vance and the administration he serves, unfolding as part of the left’s overarching strategy to rally their base against conservative policies.

In the latest circus act, Nelson returned to express outrage over recent executive orders aimed at rolling back certain “transgender” rights, particularly one that removes the word “transgender” from federal websites. Burnett played right into it, engaging Nelson in what can only be classified as a set-up for a rant masked as an interview. The agenda was clear: highlight Vance’s supposed betrayal of his former friend, all while portraying the Trump administration as callous and oppressive.
While Nelson lamented the “erasure” of “trans” identity, the reality is that what many Americans seek is a retraction of the radical ideology pushing harmful narratives about gender and sexuality.
