Former ESPN host Sage Steele recently shared her experience of interviewing President Joe Biden, describing it as “the saddest thing” she has ever witnessed. According to Steele, Biden frequently struggled to finish his sentences and appeared confused during the interview. She expressed her sadness at witnessing Biden’s confusion and described it as a heartbreaking human aspect of his presidency.
Steele revealed that she interviewed Biden in March 2021 for a pre-recorded segment ahead of MLB’s Opening Day. However, due to technical issues, the interview was conducted via satellite and not in person. Steele mentioned that she couldn’t see Biden during the interview because his handler kept a lens cover over the camera until the last second. Nonetheless, she could hear him and recalled moments where he seemed unsure of the purpose of the interview and even forgot the name of the show.
Steele recounted a specific incident where Biden began talking about his football career but trailed off mid-sentence and abruptly said, “Uh, never mind.” She expressed her sadness and connected it to the fact that Biden had spent much of his election campaign in the basement, suggesting that his struggle to finish sentences and confusion were already evident back then.
Steele’s comments align with a growing concern over Biden’s age and mental acuity. Comedian Bill Maher also mocked Biden’s cognitive decline and warned that voters perceive him as too old and likely to lose to Trump in a potential re-election campaign. Podcaster Joe Rogan further criticized Biden’s mental abilities and expressed a preference for Donald Trump.
Even former White House physician Rep. Ronny Jackson, a Republican, voiced his concerns about Biden’s cognitive decline, claiming it could lead to all-out war. Jackson demanded that Biden take a cognitive test or drop out of the 2024 presidential race, citing public appearances where the president displayed signs of mental decline and forgetfulness.
Overall, Steele’s comments add to the growing chorus of criticisms surrounding Biden’s mental ability and raise questions about his fitness for office. Whether these concerns will impact Biden’s popularity remains to be seen, but it is clear that they are not going unnoticed by conservative commentators.
