Former Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett took MSNBC host Katy Tur to school on Monday. As Tur tried to sympathize with Hamas, Bennett set the record straight on Gaza, Hamas, and the Palestinians. He called out the “Squad”, including Reps. Rashida Tlaib and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, for their ignorant and antisemitic views on the region.

Tur, like many leftists, started by defending Hamas in the ongoing conflict. Bennett didn’t let her get away with it. He pointed out the hypocrisy of holding Israel to a different standard than other countries. He gave the example of the United States and asked if anyone would expect America to cease fire if it was under attack by a terrorist group like al Qaeda.
Bennett also clarified the history of Gaza and Israel’s attempts at peace. Israel withdrew from Gaza in 2005, giving the Palestinians the opportunity to form their own state. Instead of using this opportunity to improve their territory, they chose to launch rockets at Israel and continue their violence. Bennett made it clear that Israelis have no interest in trying dangerous experiments again.
The pro-Hamas and anti-Israel narratives that dominate the conversation are ignoring these crucial facts. A cease-fire or a two-state solution won’t magically solve the problem. The only way to truly progress and potentially achieve peace is by eliminating Hamas.
It’s refreshing to see a former Israeli leader like Bennett not back down to the biased narratives pushed by mainstream media outlets. The “Squad” and other left-wing politicians could benefit from actually learning the facts instead of spreading their antisemitic views. Israel has every right to defend itself from terrorist attacks and it’s time the world recognizes that.
