On a week meant to draw attention to reducing carbon emissions—culminating with Earth Day—images and financial disclosures revealed the extent of private air travel among progressive icons who routinely lecture Americans about the dangers of carbon footprints and the need for climate sacrifice. For many on the right, the spectacle of these self-anointed eco-warriors zipping around in pollution-spewing private jets is more than just ironic; it’s further proof of the growing disconnect between progressive rhetoric and actual behavior.
This incident has reignited the long-running debate over the left’s pattern of “do as I say, not as I do.” Sanders, for example, reportedly spent over $221,000 on jet travel in just the first quarter of this year. Meanwhile, AOC’s campaign is under scrutiny for potentially using funds earmarked for grassroots activism to finance these extravagant trips.
