Paxton stands accused of years of misconduct, including receiving bribes and using his position to help out his buddy, real estate developer Nate Paul. With 20 articles of impeachment to address, the 31-member jury of senators will have their hands full. If Paxton is found guilty on any of the charges, there could be even more trouble on the horizon, as a second vote could permanently bar him from holding public office. That’s what we call a career-ender!
But don’t get too excited, liberals. Paxton denies any wrongdoing and has labeled the impeachment process as a “politically motivated sham.” He’s not planning on testifying during the trial and is already expecting to be acquitted. Talk about confidence! And just to keep things spicy, there are rumors that Paxton’s supporters are lining up to seek political retribution if he gets the boot. Billboards have even popped up in North Texas rallying the troops. That’s dedication, folks!
The trial is sure to bring more drama and potentially shed even more light on the allegations against Paxton. His top deputies spilled the beans to the FBI in 2020, accusing him of breaking the law to help out his pal, Nate Paul. They claimed that Paxton ignored their advice and hired an outsider to investigate Paul’s allegations against the FBI. Additionally, they alleged that Paxton pressured his staff to take actions that benefited Paul. Sounds like quite the tangled web!
