Dr. Anthony Fauci has once again thrust himself into the spotlight, refusing to fade into the oblivion many Americans wish for him. The former director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases and self-proclaimed savior of the COVID-19 response has published a new paper titled “HIV/AIDS and COVID-19: Shared Lessons from Two Pandemics,” co-authored with Gregory Folkers. Yet, instead of providing meaningful insights, this document oozes with debunked claims and an utter lack of self-reflection regarding the many blunders that contributed to the chaos during the pandemic.
Like a magician performing an old trick, Fauci attempts to shift blame away from himself, invoking former President Trump as the chief culprit. This continues a long-standing pattern, one that rings hollow considering the countless missteps Fauci orchestrated during his tenure. In this piece, Fauci argues that Trump minimized the pandemic’s seriousness, rather conveniently ignoring the fact that mask mandates and social distancing guidelines, which Fauci championed, have been met with wide skepticism. Emerging studies, including some from Fauci himself, have demonstrated that masks provide limited benefit and the social distancing rules he expounded upon were little more than arbitrary numbers.
Fauci is out with a new scientific paper on HIV/AIDS & COVID-19 where he falsely claims Trump told people to inject bleach & where he argues COVID-19 has a natural origin (Wuhan lab leak not even mentioned) by citing the same authors who wrote the infamous Proximal Origins paper. pic.twitter.com/3Cx1NC7Emc

Escaping accountability seems to be Fauci’s specialty, as he reaches for the outlandish narrative that Trump supported injecting bleach for COVID-19 treatment. This crazy conspiracy theory has been thoroughly debunked, yet Fauci peddles it like a broken record. Instead of owning up to the myriad claims he made that turned out to be false, he opts for scapegoating others. Ironically, it was Fauci’s own contradictory guidance that led to confusion and fear among the public, something he fails to acknowledge.
In a move that raises eyebrows rather than clarity, Fauci clings to the natural origin theory of COVID-19. In a world where common sense suggests more scrutiny is warranted regarding the virus’s origins, especially with the inconvenient facts surrounding the Wuhan lab, Fauci’s unwavering push for the animal reservoir theory seems almost desperate. If a mysterious illness erupted near a chocolate factory, would Fauci dissuade investigators from connecting the dots? The disconnect is astonishing.
The paper slams the notion that the coronavirus was engineered, while asserting that it jumped from animals to humans at a market in Wuhan. This position only fuels skepticism about Fauci’s judgment. His apparent disregard for rational inquiry raises the question of whether he believes the American public is too gullible to see through the nonsense. He fails to grasp that mere persistence doesn’t equal credibility, and his time, like the relevance of his arguments, is waning fast.
Ultimately, Fauci’s continued presence in the public sphere is a reminder of the greater issues concerning accountability in public health policymaking during crises. A spokesperson for liberty, Pradeep Shanker from National Review, commented on how Fauci advocated sacrificing family gatherings for a hastily developed vaccine, which has proven to be less than the silver bullet it was touted to be. When one considers the havoc wreaked on civil liberties during the pandemic under his advice, the call for him to gracefully exit grows ever louder.
