Fetterman Breaks Ranks, Supports Trump Nominee Pam Bondi, Rejects Gabbard and Kennedy

Pennsylvania’s own Sen. John Fetterman is shaking things up in the Democratic Party, and not in a way that will earn him any points at the next liberal cocktail party. The once bedrock loyalist, who seemed like he wouldn’t bat an eye if asked to light a Democrat’s piñata, has decided to adopt a surprisingly cordial relationship with former President Donald Trump. This sudden shift has sent ripples through the progressive ranks that are likely to be felt for a long time—just ask his left-leaning critics.

Despite having coffee chats with Trump, Fetterman has yanked the rug out from under some of his peers by announcing his intention to vote against two of Trump’s nominees: Tulsi Gabbard for Director of National Intelligence and Robert F. Kennedy Jr. for Secretary of Health and Human Services. It appears that cheering on a few Donald Trump policies isn’t enough to earn him an endorsement in the eyes of some of his party members. The irony of a Democrat turning down two candidates who have more practical experience than most in the political arena does not go unnoticed.

In a social media flourish, Fetterman indicated he met with most of the nominees and somehow came to the conclusion that Gabbard and Kennedy aren’t up to snuff. This begs the question: Was his barometer for capability adjusted after he sipped some of Trump’s political Kool-Aid? The Democrats’ Cambridge Analytica could probably have a field day with this one. If Gabbard and Kennedy can’t get the nod from Fetterman, who can?

To make matters even more intriguing, Fetterman had a moment of bipartisan shock and awe when he went ahead and supported Pam Bondi’s nomination as Attorney General, despite the litany of criticism from leftist circles. Citing Bondi’s qualifications—shocking for the left to hear from any Democrat—Fetterman explained that sometimes you just have to roll with the punches. Apparently, GOP nominees are the new must-haves for Fetterman’s selection committee; it’s a twist straight out of a political screenplay.

This newfound independence has disgruntled the left, with his critics coming out of the woodwork to express their dismay. Social media is aflame with the comments from various leftist pundits decrying Fetterman’s choices, claiming he has betrayed the party by endorsing the so-called “election denier.” The irony here is rich, as they rant and rave about Fetterman’s shift while simultaneously ignoring how many Democrats have backed candidates with equally questionable pasts. With such a public outcry, one must wonder if Fetterman is gearing up for a solo run at the next election—either that, or he’s angling for a talk show gig.

In the land of the left, Fetterman’s actions might signal the slow unraveling of a once tightly-knit Democratic strategy. Who would have thought that embracing a slightly more bipartisan attitude could turn you into a pariah among your own party? Fetterman seems to be operating on a different wavelength altogether, as he continues to contrast sharply with those who would rather tear down their political adversaries than engage in meaningful dialogue. As the Democratic Party grapples with Fetterman’s politically incorrect moves, one can’t help but wonder what else he has up his sleeve.
