In Beaverton, Oregon, a tragic incident unfolded when a homeless man accidentally set himself on fire near a local elementary school. The man was rushed to the hospital in critical condition but, unfortunately, later succumbed to his injuries. This devastating event has not only shocked the community but has intensified the concerns of parents whose children attend St. Cecilia Elementary School, which is located just across the street from the shelter. The parents are outraged and for good reason! I mean, c’mon, who in their right mind thought it was a good idea to plop a giant homeless shelter right in the middle of a school zone? Seriously, someone needs to get their head out of the clouds and start thinking about the safety of innocent children!
The shelter, known as the Beaverton Temporary Shelter, has been operated by Just Compassion of East Washington County since January 2017. But instead of providing a safe and secure environment for the kids, it seems like the shelter has become a breeding ground for disturbing incidents. I’m talking about people being naked during drop-off time, individuals sleeping on the preschool doorstep, and even one parent who had a frightening encounter with a man pounding on her car window and shouting obscenities while she was dropping off her daughter. Can you believe the nerve of these people? It’s an absolute outrage!

To make matters worse, one social media post alleged that children actually witnessed the horrifying incident from their school windows. It’s bad enough that these kids have to deal with the stress of school, homework, and growing up, but now they have to witness something so traumatic? It’s unacceptable, plain and simple. These innocent children are being subjected to the dangers and horrors of homelessness, and the authorities need to step up and do something about it!
But wait, there’s more! The homeless situation in Oregon has reached crisis levels, and it seems like the city officials are more concerned about pandering to the homeless population than protecting the well-being of the local children. Sure, homelessness is a problem that needs to be addressed, but not at the expense of our kids’ safety. The city’s so-called “balanced approach” seems to heavily favor the homeless, with little regard for the concerns of parents and the safety of the children. It’s a clear indication of where the city’s priorities lie, and quite frankly, it’s a slap in the face to the hardworking, tax-paying families of Beaverton.
So, what’s the solution? Well, for starters, the city needs to come up with a better plan to keep the homeless population, especially those struggling with severe mental health issues and substance abuse, away from the school and the children. The safety and well-being of our kids should be the top priority, and it’s about time the city officials started recognizing that. It’s a disgrace that the parents and children have to endure these terrifying situations on a daily basis, and it’s high time for the authorities to take decisive action to ensure the safety of the community.
In the meantime, concerned citizens, including those of us here at The Western Journal, need to come together and stand up for the safety of our children. The elites and Big Tech may try to silence us, but we won’t back down. We need your support to continue fighting for our families, our community, and our beloved country. So, let’s join forces and show the America-hating left that we won’t let them win. Stand with us, and together, we will make our voices heard!
