A former FBI informant named Alexander Smirnov has been indicted on federal tax charges, bringing a dose of intrigue and comedy to the already tangled web surrounding President Joe Biden’s family. The saga thickens as Smirnov’s trial regarding the bribery allegations has been postponed, now scheduled to commence on January 8. Prosecutors allege that Smirnov misled the FBI back in June 2020, claiming that the Bidens received hefty paychecks of $5 million each from Burisma several years earlier. That’s quite a tall tale, especially when one considers that Smirnov only had routine dealings with the Ukrainian company and decided to cry foul after showing what prosecutors claim was a clear bias against Joe Biden during the election season.
It really does make for entertaining reading, especially when thinking about the disgraced Hunter Biden, who is set to face sentencing soon in connection to a couple of criminal cases involving tax avoidance and lying about purchasing a firearm. One would think that with all this drama, President Biden’s family would want to steer clear of trouble, but it’s like they are on a never-ending rollercoaster of scandal.
As this bizarre circus unfolds, one thing is crystal clear: the Biden family must be quite something, not only to draw the interest of a former FBI informant in the first place but to inspire such creative financial folly.
