Foxx Demands Cardona Quit: Fails to Condemn Antisemitism!

House Education and Labor Committee Chairwoman Virginia Foxx, a Republican from North Carolina, has some strong words for Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona. She’s calling for his resignation, and she’s not pulling any punches. Foxx is fed up with Cardona’s response to the pro-genocidal phrase “from the river to the sea,” and she’s not afraid to let the world know it.

According to JewishInsider, Cardona refused to denounce the phrase as antisemitic, and Foxx is not having it. She took to Twitter to declare, “Secretary Cardona should resign immediately,” and she didn’t stop there. Foxx released a statement outlining her dissatisfaction with Cardona’s performance, citing his failure to address the antisemitic nature of the phrase and pointing out other shortcomings in his role as Education Secretary.

Foxx accused Cardona’s Department of exceeding its authority in spending and failing audits, putting the education opportunities of millions of families and students at risk. Not only that, but she called out his “deliberate misuse of taxpayer dollars” and his lack of understanding of the discrimination faced by Jewish students. Foxx made it clear: “It is time for the Secretary to resign.”

As if that wasn’t enough, Cardona’s response to the offensive phrase didn’t do him any favors. While he did label the phrase as “not tolerable,” he dodged the question of whether it should be considered antisemitic. It seemed like he didn’t want to commit to a clear stance, and that didn’t sit well with Foxx and other conservatives.

House Republican Conference Chairwoman Elise Stefanik also weighed in, referencing Foxx’s call for Cardona’s resignation. She didn’t hold back either, slamming The Hill for downplaying the seriousness of the phrase, “from the river to the sea.” This phrase has been identified as pro-genocidal, not just a pro-Palestine chant, and even the Anti-Defamation League has labeled it as such.

The Hill’s coverage was criticized for giving Cardona a pass and not delving into the gravity of the situation. It didn’t help that the report seemingly minimized the efforts of Republican lawmakers in addressing antisemitism on college campuses. Let’s not forget that this issue has already led to the resignation of university presidents, and Cardona could be next.

It’s clear that Cardona’s response has created a firestorm, and the calls for his resignation are only getting louder. As a conservative, it’s no surprise that Foxx and Stefanik are leading the charge in calling out Cardona’s lackluster performance. This controversy is just another chapter in the ongoing battle to uphold conservative values and combat antisemitism. And for Cardona, the writing may be on the wall – the Biden administration can’t afford to ignore this.
