France Dives Headfirst Into the Abject Madness of Infanticide
Recently, France made the perilous choice of becoming the first nation to constitutionalize abortion rights. In a callous declaration, French Prime Minister Gabriel Attal stated, "Your body belongs to you, and no one can decide for you," as the abhorrent amendment was rubber-stamped by the French legislature at the Palace of Versailles. The amendment was approved by a vote of 780–72, which is an unfortunate reflection of the times.

This abhorrent action follows France's 2022 decision to increase the legal abortion limit from 12 to 14 weeks gestation, which contributed to the country's unrestricted descent into a culture of death. Furthermore, to compound matters, the amendment designates abortion as a "guaranteed freedom" regulated by parliamentary law. This means that subsequent administrations will be unable to "substantially alter" the existing legislation that provides funding for abortions within the 14-week timeframe. When a nation's constitution codifies the abhorrent practice of suffocating innocent lives, that is a day to be lamented.
Sen. Melanie Vogel of the Green Party, an outspoken supporter of this abhorrent measure, even boldly asserted, "The French Republic can no longer be considered democratic without the right to abortion." What a mountain of nonsense! The right to life, not the right to terminate it, ought to be the foundation of every democracy.
Notwithstanding the secular character of France, witnessing the erosion of its profound Catholic heritage due to this reprehensible decision is discouraging. A day of "fasting and prayer" was proclaimed by the Bishops' Conference of France as a protest against the amendment, while the Vatican reaffirmed its abhorrence of the action. The imperative for these organizations to denounce this heinous act serves as evidence of the moral deterioration that has pervaded France.
Ultimately, legalized abortion in France has become a somber blemish on the country's criminal record. We should hold out hope and pray that the nation will eventually recognize the sanctity of every human life and regain its senses.
