Republican Representative Matt Gaetz is not holding back when it comes to defending President Donald Trump. After Trump was indicted for the second time, Gaetz is calling for the removal of funding that supports special prosecutor Jack Smith. Gaetz wants Smith to appear before the Judiciary Committee for an interview, and if he refuses, Gaetz is ready to send a subpoena and hold him in criminal contempt. Gaetz even went so far as to say that if Attorney General Merrick Garland doesn’t enforce the contempt, he should be impeached.
Gaetz is determined to protect Trump from what he sees as a political witch hunt. He believes that the indictment is a blatant attempt by the Left to interfere with the 2020 presidential election. Gaetz is also concerned about the alleged crimes committed by Hunter and Joe Biden and sees this indictment as a distraction from those issues.
Gaetz is not alone in his fight against Smith. Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia is planning to use the Holman rule to reduce Smith’s salary as a way to stop him. This rule allows lawmakers to target specific line items and make reductions. Gaetz and Greene are determined to stand up for Congress’s interests and ensure that there is no misuse of the Department of Justice.

In the end, Gaetz wants to make sure that Trump is protected. He believes that Trump should be immunized through congressional powers so that he cannot be prosecuted. Gaetz sees this as a necessary step to defend against what he perceives as a torturing of First Amendment-protected activity. When it comes to defending Trump, Gaetz is not afraid to fight back against anyone who stands in his way.
