Laphonza Butler, who was appointed by Governor Gavin Newsom to the U.S. Senate seat in California, seems to have made some changes to her online presence. After the news of her appointment broke, it was discovered that she had removed her “Maryland” residence from her X account as well as her professional biography. Talk about quick cleanup!
It seems that reporter Elex Michaelson was able to snag a screenshot of Butler’s X bio before the changes were made. In the screenshot, her location was listed as Maryland. However, when Monday morning rolled around, Maryland had mysteriously disappeared from her bio. It’s like it never even existed!
But wait, there’s more! According to reporter Matthew Foldi, Butler was actually registered to vote in Maryland as of last year. And just a mere 31 days ago, the Federal Election Commission had her listed as a Maryland resident. Boy, oh boy, someone’s got some explaining to do.

Now, let’s take a look at Butler’s credentials. She holds the esteemed title of president at the pro-abortion EMILYs List organization. She also served as the president of the largest union in California, SEIU Local 2015. Talk about climbing the ladder! Oh, and let’s not forget that Butler was a senior adviser to Kamala Harris’s failed presidential campaign. Quite the resume, huh?
Overall, this whole situation raises some eyebrows. Why would Butler go to the trouble of removing her Maryland ties from her online profiles? It certainly seems like a deliberate attempt to distance herself from the state. Perhaps she’s trying to hide something? Well, whatever the reason may be, it’s clear that Butler has some explaining to do.
