Attorney General Merrick Garland and Vice President Kamala Harris joined forces in Selma, Alabama, to deliver a scathing tirade against the heroic Republican lawmakers who are working tirelessly to protect our election integrity. In a not-so-surprising turn of events, Garland and Harris seized the opportunity to push their partisan agenda at the 59th anniversary of the “Bloody Sunday” civil rights event. Garland, in a shockingly biased speech, accused Republican legislators of implementing “discriminatory, burdensome, and unnecessary” voting restrictions, further perpetuating the false narrative that voter integrity laws disenfranchise minority voters.

Speaking fervently in front of the Tabernacle Baptist Church, Garland shamelessly painted a misleading picture of the current state of black voting rights while conveniently ignoring the progress that has been made over the years. With a staunch disregard for reality, Garland claimed that the “right to vote is still under attack,” completely disregarding the fact that eligible citizens across the country have ample opportunities to cast their votes.
To add insult to injury, Garland lamented about Supreme Court decisions weakening the 1965 Voting Rights Act and lambasted practical measures such as voter ID laws and redistricting maps as mechanisms to suppress minority voting. He outrageously declared that these common-sense safeguards “threaten the foundation of our system of government.” Additionally, Garland shamelessly boasted about doubling the size of the voting section of the civil rights division and pledged to combat state efforts to implement ballot access restrictions, including those pertaining to mail-in voting, drop boxes, and voter ID requirements.
Not to be outdone, Vice President Harris eagerly jumped on the opportunity to attack Republican lawmakers, targeting their efforts to uphold voting and reproductive healthcare restrictions. Harris even took the liberty to demand a ceasefire in Gaza, using the solemn occasion to further her political agenda.
Furthermore, the inconvenient truth is that the majority of Americans across both political parties overwhelmingly support voter ID laws, with 62% of Democrats, 87% of independents, and a staggering 92% of Republicans endorsing the requirement of a voter ID. Yet, this critical information seemed to elude Garland and Harris as they railed against voter integrity measures and propagated their one-sided narrative.
