Garland’s Folly: Could Biden Impeachment Be on Horizon?!

The August break is almost over, and House Republicans are being forced into starting impeachment proceedings against Joe Biden. It seems like it was bound to happen at some point, but Attorney General Merrick Garland is the one who really set things in motion. He appointed David Weiss as special counsel for the Hunter Biden investigation, and that’s the straw that broke the camel’s back.

Weiss is the US attorney who got shut down when he tried to press charges against Hunter Biden. On top of that, he let some pretty serious tax violations slide because they fell under the statute of limitations. This investigation is a sham, considering Weiss isn’t an independent arbiter like a real “special counsel” should be. Plus, the scope of the investigation conveniently shields Joe Biden from facing any legal consequences for his alleged involvement in his son’s shady business deals.

To make matters worse, Weiss can’t testify before the House Oversight committee about Hunter Biden, especially the messy plea agreement surrounding him. He’s got these roadblocks preventing any real progress or accountability. So, the only tool left in the toolbox is an impeachment inquiry. Even some liberal pundits are scratching their heads at these moves by Garland. Why not just appoint someone who could ensure a new and thorough investigation that’s compliant with the regulations?

But Weiss is still chugging along, investigating crimes that are dwindling in number because of all the delays. It’s like going goose hunting in Canada long after the geese have flown South. Everyone’s just dressing up and shooting at an empty sky. While there might still be a chance to charge Hunter on some flimsy grounds, it’s clear that this whole investigation is rigged.

And now, Congress will have a harder time getting answers from Weiss. He can claim that he’s engaged in an ongoing special counsel investigation and use the eventual special counsel report to protect himself and downplay any potential crimes. Meanwhile, the Biden administration is doing everything it can to keep information away from the House, including records held by the National Archives.

For months, there have been talks of impeaching the president among Republican House members. They’ve been urged not to repeat the mistakes of House Democrats with hasty impeachments and disregarding the facts. But Garland has effectively pushed them into a corner. With all the obstacles created by Weiss’ appointment and Garland’s refusal to expand the special counsel’s mandate, there’s no other choice but to start an impeachment inquiry. The House has the utmost authority when it comes to impeachment, and now they have to use it.

So, Mr. Speaker, the ball’s in your court.
