Gavin Newsom is unraveling, and it’s about time someone holds him accountable. The chaos engulfing Los Angeles has laid bare his ineptitude. President Trump’s decision to send in the National Guard and Marines to restore order was spot-on, though it left Newsom scrambling for a response. He claims there’s no need for federal intervention, but anyone with eyes can see the mayhem. Let’s face it – he’s floundering, fast.
Victor Davis Hanson, a voice of reason, spotlighted Newsom’s mishandling of the immigration crisis. The Democrats can’t wrap their heads around this issue, allowing illegal crossings to skyrocket. Millions pour in, and yet, they somehow can’t manage even minimal deportations. Newsom’s meltdown over enforcement efforts shows a stunning disconnect from reality. He seems to have forgotten his job is to protect Americans, not pander to radical liberal fantasies.
But let’s not stop there. Newsom’s frustration over the nationalization of the California Guard is both laughable and ignorant. Presidents have the power to step in when state leaders fail, and fail spectacularly he has. He seems to forget historical precedents like JFK not asking for permission to counter local resistance during times of crisis. Newsom plays politics while his city suffers, all because he can’t stomach that Trump’s approach doesn’t need his “blessing.”
"It’s amazing how Democrats still don’t get how unpopular their agenda has become to normal voters. They’ve lost the working class, the middle class, and now immigrant citizens."

And, lo and behold, the Democrats are losing their grip on immigrant voters. Even those who once leaned left are hopping on the GOP train, given the debacle in leadership. It’s almost comedic: the very people the Dems claim to champion are slipping away. Newsom, seen by some as the savior for his beleaguered party, is letting California go up in flames, figuratively and literally. Retreating to baseless anti-Trump rhetoric won’t reverse his decline.
Under this spectacle of failed leadership, one has to wonder where the state, and indeed the country, would be if more Democrats shared Newsom’s lack of resolve and insight. Right now, the message from California’s leadership is clear: “Support me, and watch America crumble like my state.” A winning strategy? Hardly.
