It's evident that many media outlets and some global organizations continue to propagate the information provided by Iran-backed Hamas, despite concerns about its accuracy. The Gaza Health Ministry, under Hamas control, has released figures concerning the number of Gazans allegedly killed by Israeli forces. However, these numbers have faced criticism for their lack of differentiation between combatants and civilians, which has been acknowledged even by outlets like The Washington Post.

President Joe Biden has also expressed skepticism about the accuracy of Palestinian casualty numbers. Nevertheless, the United Nations and various NGOs still report these figures as facts, even when they have previously been misled, such as the incident where they accepted the Gaza Health Ministry's claim about an Israeli airstrike on a hospital, which turned out to be a terrorist rocket misfire.
The collaboration between the United Nations and Al-Haq, an organization associated with the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, a designated terrorist group, raises concerns about bias and impartiality. It's not only an ethical issue but also a problem for journalistic integrity to give credibility to terrorists and their supporters.
Hamas has a history of inflating civilian casualty numbers to vilify Israel and control the narrative from Gaza. Independent reporting and reliable data from the region are scarce. Despite these challenges, narratives will likely continue to be spun as Israeli Defense Forces approach Hamas leadership in the northern Gaza Strip.
Anyone who cites Hamas statistics as fact should be aware that they may be amplifying propaganda. As Hamas faces increasing pressure, their misinformation campaign may become more exaggerated. It's evident that Hamas aims to demonize Israel and promote its destruction, and media and global organizations should be cautious not to inadvertently support this agenda.
